Canopy Legal Software

Our Data Breach Response and Privacy Audit software is cloud-based and deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We currently support AWS in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia Pacific, and can quickly deploy to other regions as needed. Our data Breach Response and Privacy Audit software takes a holistic view of your data: it can quickly process entire data sets and thus provides immediate information about the PII that exists where. Ralph came from the eDiscovery software market and saw first-hand how slow, inaccurate, and expensive it was to find PII and people in breached data. He wanted to develop a tool to help companies inform authorities and data subjects as quickly as possible in the event of a breach – not only because the regulations require it, but also because it`s the right thing to do. Practice management software should bring together all the critical functions of your practice in one place. Like your business, our suite is built around your customers, with customer management as the foundation. From there, Canopy lets you choose from our other modules, based on what works best for you and your business. We are Canopy, the developers of cutting-edge software to respond to privacy and data breaches. Our goal is to bring transparency to how companies store, process and share sensitive data by enabling them to recognize and protect personally identifiable information (PII). As a serial entrepreneur, Ralph co-founded Global Colleague, an eDiscovery and document review boutique company, before founding Canopy. During this phase of his career, Ralph has advised government agencies, service providers and software providers on the application of eDiscovery technology to support litigation, investigations and responses to public records. Ralph`s experience using technology to search for personally identifiable information (PII) and exceptions for protected health information (PHI) under these public records laws has made responding to data breaches under GDPR, HIPAA, FERPA and similar laws an obvious choice for Canopy`s first product.

Ralph Nickl has over 25 years of experience working with startups to provide business solutions, software products and consulting services to businesses, law firms and government clients. With previous roles as a technical architect, strategic consultant, and sales manager for companies such as Accenture and First Advantage, Ralph has directly supported litigation, investigations, and eDiscovery implementations. When Ralph Nickl founded Canopy, privacy laws like GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA gained momentum around the world, but the technology had not yet caught up. To deal with growing threats, companies have used software from parallel industries such as eDiscovery. Whether you`re responding to a breach or working proactively to minimize risk, Canopy`s patented cybersecurity and privacy technology gives you everything you need. Great ideas arise when exploring: Canopy itself was designed in the forest. With no connection to an office, we`ve seen foresters doing incredible work from a hotel, campground, or even a boat. Previously, an accountant only needed a calculator, a rolodex, and a good old-fashioned work ethic. Things have changed. Now you need tools for customer management, document management, workflow, payments, time, and billing. Preferably everything in the same integrated system.

That`s where Canopy comes in. (And yes, that good old work ethic is still useful.)
