The clinic is operated by the University of Law and provides a free and reliable service to people with legal difficulties. Interviews are only possible by prior arrangement. «FLAG» is a free family law line based in Guildford, administered by the Pro Bono Unit of the University of Law. Family Law Advice Guildford (FLAG)During this experience, you`ll call clients, get details about their legal problem, and then take notes on the advice they`ve received at our telephone clinics from one of our local volunteer lawyers. The Surrey Access to Justice Clinic, created specifically to support the local population, opened on February 12, 2020. The clinic will give Surrey law students the opportunity to assist members of the public by partnering with legal charities and law firms to provide free information, advice and guidance. The OCA provides the public with free preliminary legal advice on a wide range of civil matters. While providing support to this centre, you will interview a client and produce a letter of advice that will be carefully monitored by our supervising lawyer to help you gain interview, design and case management skills through hands-on experience. You can gain interviewing, writing and case management skills by preparing required documents, attending client interviews to take notes, and creating a consultation letter under the supervision of the pro bono lawyer. During the initial free consultation, we listen to your situation and understand what you expect from us. In this interview, we advise you on your legal situation and describe the possibilities and next steps to follow.

We will also provide you with a schedule for the payment of fixed or limited fees for carrying out this work. Louise Curd, Coordinator of Lawyers Against Poverty, said: «We are delighted to be working with the Faculty of Law to organise sessions on legal trust aimed at educating and empowering refugees by helping them better understand the UK`s civil and criminal justice system and their rights while living in the UK.
